"For me, visiting a doctor is not a pleasant experience. Not only do I feel dissatisfied and anxious about my health, there are also those dark waiting areas, cold benches with garish colours and long waiting lines… I feel like I get even sicker there."

When a patient is admitted to a hospital, his physical and mental condition is very fragile and totally different from the physical and mental condition of a healthy person visiting the institution. When someone is ill, their susceptibility and sensitivity to environmental stimuli is only heightened, which is why the way things look and the general atmosphere in a hospital are extremely important. It is in this attention to the human factor in a hospital environment that the architectural and the medical meet. Architecture can have a positive effect on the wellbeing of visitors, patients and employees if carefully, attentively designed, which helps those working in healthcare treat patients effectively.

The exhibition presents the beneficial effects of architecture on the visitors, patients and employees at General Hospital Izola, with a special focus on the part of the hospital designed by Stanko Kristl. Cozy areas will be set up in the lobby, in front of specialty clinics and in the hospital wing, with exhibition panels showing a vision of the future development of Izola Hospital. Explanations of the term architecture for health will help visitors understand how architecture can have a beneficial effect on people's wellbeing.
