Radical Utopias

Beyond Architecture: Florence 1966–1976
Address
Piazza degli Strozzi, Florence 50123
Hours
Fri–Wed 10 am–8 pm ; Thu 10 am–11 pm

Material from the CCA’s Alessandro Poli archive plays a prominent role in Utopie Radicali, an exhibition organized by the Fondazione Palazzo Strozzi, the Fondazione CR Firenze, and the Osservatorio per le Arti Contemporanee that examines the radical movement in architecture and art in Florence in the 1960s and 1970s.

The exhibition brings together the work of groups and figures such as 9999, Archizoom, Remo Buti, Gianni Pettena, Superstudio, UFO, and Zzigurat. It addresses the idea of utopia that these iconoclast practitioners invoked as a tool for social critique, and the way that their activities made Florence a focal point for new developments that gained international visibility and made a lasting impact.
