The Archiprix 2014 exhibition showcases the 27 best Dutch degree projects in the fields of architecture, urban planning and landscape architecture.

The designs propose scenarios for a society in flux. The designers received no collective assignment, and their projects vary widely, from a design for a prison that resocialises inmates to a strategy for re-enlivening the rich nature of the Oosterschelde estuary.

The Archiprix foundation is a joint project of the tertiary design courses in Amsterdam, Arnhem, Delft, Eindhoven, Groningen, Maastricht, Rotterdam, Tilburg and Wageningen. Each year, the institutions select their best degree projects to take part in Archiprix.

The shared first prize was won by The Ems Full Hybrid, Remco van der Togt, Jonas Papenborg, Wageningen Universiteit (landscape architecture) and Recording and Projecting Architecture, Filippo Maria Doria, TU-Delft (architecture).

Het Nieuwe Instituut’s exhibition contributes to the 2014 competition by introducing the year’s most outstanding graduating designers and their inspiring degree projects to the profession and the general public. It continues a productive ongoing partnership between Archiprix and Het Nieuwe Instituut.

Design and innovation, two phenomena linked to changing values, are core concepts in Het Nieuwe Instituut’s multiyear programming. Het Nieuwe Instituut takes an interest in developing talent and supporting young designers. The Archiprix 2014 exhibition brings together all these elements.

Het Nieuwe Instituut will continue to spotlight talent and new developments this year with projects including exhibitions connected to the Prix de Rome and New Material Award.
