Today there are 7111 languages spoken around the world but it is estimated that by the turn of the century nearly half of the world’s languages are likely to be extinguished. At the AA we have students from more than 81 nationalities and we speak more than 40 languages. To celebrate and build on this diversity, and to recognise the value of language in the production of space and ideas, this year we are launching Architecture in Translation, a project that aims to build a multilingual and multicultural approach to architecture today.

An exhibition of works donated by celebrated architects and artists is on display from 19 November - 6 December and are auctioned at the Silver Gala to raise funds to support the AA Public Programmes and Publications.
