Taiwan acts!

Architecture in social dialogue
Address
Barer Strasse 40 (Pinakothek der Moderne), 80333 München Map
Hours
Tue–Sun 10 am–6 pm, Sun 10 am–8 pm

Following the devastating earthquake of 21 September 1999, a number of architectural initiatives in Taiwan have developed a focus on the social role of building in their own country. These include: measures to improve the urban structure of Yilan, but also cultural buildings, infrastructure and housing in other places on the island. Projects by architects such as Ying-Chun Hsieh and Atelier-3, Fieldoffice Architects with Sheng-Yuan Huang, the "Forward-looking Infrastructure Development Program for urban renewal in Hsinchu and Keelung City" and varied community development projects will be presented. Many of them are hardly known in Europe so far. The exhibition "Taiwan Acts!" is thus the largest exhibition on this topic to date and shows a committed culture of building and planning that has emerged from an open social dialogue."
