In cooperation with the Karlsruhe Regional Council, the Architecture Showcase was able to bring the Wüstenrot Foundation's traveling exhibition to Karlsruhe.

The competition theme "The sustainable single-family home?", which is deliberately formulated as a question, combines important architectural, planning and social future topics: How can single-family homes, both new and existing buildings, be (re)designed and adapted to the life cycle and the changing requirements of the residents? How can they meet demographic change, increasing environmental awareness and growing demands for energy efficiency? And how can space-sensitive design and development succeed?

The 13th Wüstenrot Foundation Design Award tracked down exemplary single-family homes under these aspects that represent a sustainable form and thus meet the high requirements and standards of our time. An independent jury awarded a total of fifteen projects from 189 submissions from Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The travelling exhibition shows the award-winning projects together with the shortlisted entries and other notable examples.
