We pay tribute to Danish architecture and design and dive into the myths behind what that has made Denmark and Copenhagen popular throughout the world: the good everyday life.
Denmark is often highlighted in an international context as an example, when it comes to creating optimal living conditions for the population; conditions that contribute to a high level of quality of life. Denmark has been voted the happiest country in the world on several occasions, and the New York Times refer to Copenhagen as one of the most recommended places to visit in 2020.
What is the Danish recipe for the desirable good life?
In Danish Architecture Center’s summer exhibition Hello Denmark we celebrate everyday life and all the things that Danes often take for granted: Our well-designed surroundings, cycling life and harbor baths in the middle of the city.
Hello Denmark unfolds our shared narrative of Denmark as a world-class design and architecture nation. A tale that testifies to a design tradition and a strong set of values that permeate the entire community and shape the life we live – every day – from the smallest teaspoon to the largest urban planning.
Hello Denmark provides a glimpse into six fundamentals of everyday Danish life and explores the ways these highly-valued ideas impact our built world. Discover Denmark’s relationship to nature; the foundation of trust in society; an insistence on hygge; the country’s unique cycling culture; the reasons why design is valued; and the Danes’ joy in being close to water.
