Städtische Galerie Ostfildern

Art can sharpen our view, bring everyday phenomena and issues that affect us into focus and thus create a relationship to our own time and place. The Städtische Galerie would like to stimulate public discussion about this. In this context, it sees itself as a mediator between art, artists and local citizens.

Location in Scharnhauser Park

This claim is reinforced by the gallery's presence in the award-winning Stadthaus in Scharnhauser Park. It is the center for all citizen concerns, as a place for meeting, communication and exchange.

The youngest of the six city districts celebrated its tenth anniversary in 2015. The model district, built on former barracks land, plays a central role in the process of becoming a city and establishing a corresponding identity. Many young families are settling here - Scharnhauser Park is a district on the move.

The Städtische Galerie contributes to creating the identity that gives rise to community and integration.

Art (has) an effect ...

Art interprets our existence, can change perceptions, asks questions. Art is creativity, quality of life, connects people and groups, creates commonality. Art is the catalyst for the promotion of society's creative potential. In about four changing exhibitions per year, art is given the opportunity to do this in the Municipal Gallery.

Parallel to the exhibitions, a collection on contemporary art in Baden-Württemberg is being created.
