EXPO 2000

Photographer Piet Niemann has taken a comprehensive photographic survey of the EXPO site 20 years after the EXPO in Hanover.

EXPO 2020 opened in Dubai at the beginning of October. 192 pavilions were erected on the extensive site, 80 percent of which are to be reused. Sustainability and the successful development of the exhibition site into a "city of the future" are often promised by politicians, similar to the Olympics. But is this actually the case? 20 years later, it is interesting to note what has remained and been delivered from these often full-bodied promises - or not.
