In his current exhibition, Scott Tulay presents a new series of works in which he explores spatial ambiguity and the effect of light as a design element.
The drawings move between architecture and nature, structure and dissolution. Light, atmosphere, and fog become active components of the composition, simultaneously shaping and dematerializing the architectural elements depicted. The result is works in which depth, movement, and transparency enter into an exciting balance.
Scott's artistic process is based on an experimental approach to fragmentation and reconstruction. He develops new compositions from existing drawings, which unfold their own unexpected dynamics through superimposition, destruction, and rearrangement. The results are multi-layered works that oscillate between control and chance and, in their aesthetic complexity, reveal both the constructive and the fleeting.
