SYNOPSIS
Blue Notebooks is an individual exhibition composed of 91 sketch notebooks by the architect Eduardo Souto de Moura, produced over more than 40 years of career. The event, presented for the first time in Lisbon, is a public exhibition of a set of sketches selected by the architect himself, that reveal his imaginary throughout the development of each project.
In the sketches shown we can identify some of the most prestigious projects of the architect Eduardo Souto de Moura, as well as competitions and other projects that were never realized, as small pieces of design, projects without clients or ideas for himself. They are, in a way, intimate notebooks that accompany the architect in his daily life that record spontaneous notes, reflections, concerns, doubts and design intentions.
Notebooks that show how drawing is an essential tool for communicating with ourselves and others, and a way of understand, interrogate, and transform the place.

"Almost always, I start the project with sketches, they are habits of Siza’s studio, and I domesticate the animal with more sketches, models, elevations and above all many plans."
Eduardo Souto de Moura
