Architektur FilmTage Erfurt
In October 2023, the Erfurt Architecture Film Days will take place for the second time, following on from last year's successful event. How do you approach architects and their work? This was the question addressed at the first Erfurt Architecture Film Days. The second Erfurt Architecture Film Days will not only focus on the work of architects, but also on their professional profile. We will take a look around the globe and learn about the constantly changing living and working situations of architects worldwide in 6 very different documentaries.
The image of the mostly male star architect, which still shaped the perception of architecture in the 20th century, is in the process of disintegration in view of pressing ecological and social questions, and not only in recent times. The opportunities that a post-war generation still had have become smaller and smaller in recent decades due to an increasingly formalised architectural scene determined by established offices. But young offices are skilfully exploiting niches and developing new ways of working to pursue a different practice. Women, not least due to the pioneering work of female architects in the 20th century, have long since conquered a firm place in the former male domain. And the focus on the issues of the western world is giving way to a global spectrum that poses different economic conditions and demands a social agenda with new educational formats.
The Erfurt Architecture Film Days aim to make the themes of architecture and the built environment accessible to a broad public and see themselves as a meeting place for architects, film lovers and all those interested. The films are complemented by introductions, discussions and debates.
