Young Portuguese Architecture
Through a selection of projects, the exhibition offers a focused insight into the emergence of a new generation of Portuguese architects. The focus is on approaches that have emerged under the specific social, economic, and cultural conditions of the early 21st century and that enrich contemporary Portuguese architecture with new perspectives.
The works on display reveal a remarkable diversity of approaches and strategies: ranging from precisely context-specific interventions in existing buildings to experimental design approaches and internationally influenced working methods. What they share is a thoughtful engagement with space, materials, and social responsibility that both continues the long tradition of Portuguese architecture and critically develops it further.
By bringing together biographical information, individual career paths, and an overview of the formative historical, political, and cultural conditions, a potential generational connection is made visible. The exhibition understands “generation” not as a rigid category, but as an open network of shared experiences, discourses, and questions that reveal a common stance.
