Drawing ambience
Alvin Boyarsky and the Architectural Association
As an architect, tutor and critic, Alvin Boyarsky (1928-1990) argued for new models in education and in design practice, which were always linked to global cultural changes. He was chairman of the Architectural Association (AA), a platform for young architects to explore the challenges of the day and define their own visual and spatial languages. The diversity of Boyarsky’s collection, which includes drawings from figures such as Rem Koolhaas, Zaha Hadid, Daniel Libeskind and Bernard Tschumi, mirrors the visionary spirit of both built and unbuilt projects. De Boyarsky’s collection includes designs and theoretical explorations that, disregarding their conceptual variations, are all the result of experimentation through drawing.
