The Track Changes event series comes home to the Netherlands with a debate on Friday 7 March 2014, accompanied by this exhibition.

Previous debates took place at the São Paulo Architecture Biennale in November 2013. There, an international group of architects, urban planners, economists, developers, politicians and architectural historians discussed the major shifts societies undergo in periods of economic, political and social crisis, and the role architects and planners can play in such contexts.

On Friday 7 March, speakers including Michelle Provoost (Crimson Architectural Historians), René Boer and Mark Minkjan (Failed Architecture), Hedwig Heinsman (DUS architects), Rients Dijkstra (Maxwan architects and urbanists; Dutch government advisor on infrastructure and the city) and Indira van ’t Klooster (A10 new European architecture) will discuss the outcomes of Track Changes and their significance for Dutch architecture and planning. The debate will take place from 7.30 to 9.30pm in the auditorium.

The reports in this exhibition look back at the conversations, presentations and meetings organised in São Paulo by Het Nieuwe Instituut and Crimson Architectural Historians.

Track Changes is part of Het Nieuwe Instituut’s international programme, whose areas of focus include dialogue, the international mobility of knowledge, and agendas in the design field.
