Cities are complex. Graphic design is necessary in order to make them comprehensible and navigable. We experience it through signs, stickers, tags, apps, road signs, demo placards, and take-away cups.

This exhibition shows projects that have become part of many people’s everyday life, all created by Stockholm Design Lab – a design agency founded in 1998. Over the last two decades it has designed identities for, among others, Scandinavian Airlines, Åhléns department store, and Moderna Museet. Approaching graphic design as a common good, and with an accessible design idiom, Stockholm Design Lab has had a major impact on the appearance of public spaces in Sweden today. Through the identities it has created for some of the country’s best-known brands and institutions, the agency has made a unique mark on virtually every shopping street and town centre in Sweden.
