For over 30 years, ArkDes has invited children, young people, adults, amateurs and professionals to exhibit their gingerbread houses at the museum on Skeppsholmen. Creating a building from gingerbread dough is a playful way to explore architecture and design. The gingerbread bakers find creative solutions to construction, sustainability, function and decoration – just like architects and designers do in real life.

This year, 151 entries are on display, created by both young and old, amateurs and professionals who have let their imagination take shape in gingerbread dough during the Christmas months. The theme of this year's gingerbread house exhibition is love! Together we celebrate the love of architecture, design and details. How the participants interpret this year's theme is of great importance, because Gingerbread House is not just a place for home bakers' creative gingerbread houses. It is also a competition. Participants will exhibit in three categories:

Architects, Designers and Bakers
Up to 12 years old
Anyone else who bakes
A jury will select a winner in each category. The contestants will be judged on construction, shape, edibility and connection to the theme. In addition, the Audience Award will be awarded to the entry that receives the most votes from the public.
