The BDA Baden-Württemberg is highlighting the architectural work of its female members. The exhibition "Architects · BDA," which runs from June 24 to July 25, 2025, at the Wechselraum in Stuttgart, showcases the works of female architects and urban planners from the BDA Baden-Württemberg. The exhibition is accompanied by a statewide poster campaign at universities and institutions.

This exhibition not only focuses on individual works but also makes a strong collective statement on the visibility of women in architecture. In addition to the projects of practicing female planners, the contributions of associate members – women who are committed to building culture in various fields – are also honored. The exhibition also sheds light on the history of women in the BDA Baden-Württemberg, which is being researched as part of a study project at the University of Stuttgart.

If you ask self-employed female architects, many describe equality as a lived reality. But a look at the numbers reveals a different picture: While women now make up around 58% of students in architecture studies, this proportion is not reflected in architectural firms. Only about 24% of freelance architects are women. The picture is even clearer in the Baden-Württemberg Association of German Architects (BDA) – of 896 members, only 110 are women. With this exhibition, we aim to initiate a public dialogue that particularly appeals to and motivates young female planners and students.

We want to make role models visible to demonstrate that they do exist: successful independent female architects and women in leadership positions! A diverse accompanying program offers space for exchange.
