Best Highrises 2018/2019

Every other year the International Highrise Award by the City of Frankfurt\Main, the DAM and the DekaBank is bestowed on an outstanding building displaying extraordinary aesthetics, trailblazing design as well as innovative technology and economic efficiency. Trends in high-rise architecture have long since no longer just been defined in North America and Europe, but worldwide. One that is emerging in Southeast Asia and China, for example, involves individual structures increasingly being grouped together in ensembles. And single usage of a building is becoming ever rarer, hybrid usage is what is called for. Exciting concepts are efining the development of surrounding areas and even entire districts all the more. From the 36 buildings worldwide nominated by DAM, the international jury, consisting of architects, engineers and real-estate professionals, chooses five finalists and ultimately the winning building. The exhibition presents all the nominated structures — with a particular focus on the prize winner and the finalists.
