Sport and exercise are essential elements for active community life and coexistence within urban society. This trend has become increasingly visible in cities over the past few years: Public green spaces and open areas are being transformed into temporary or permanent venues for sport, play, and exercise.

The exhibition, which premiered in Frankfurt, now presents an expanded version of twelve projects from across Europe that innovatively integrate sporting activity and exercise into the urban environment – from urban soccer fields in prime city locations and riverside parks with diverse sports programs to schoolyards that open themselves up to the surrounding neighborhood with their play and sports facilities. The spectrum of projects realized over the past 15 years ranges from ambitious redesigns and conversions to minimal design interventions in existing spaces.

Visitors to the exhibition discover these spaces themselves as playgrounds for sport and fitness: A mat area, various calisthenics equipment, a cross-cricket station, and a bowling alley are available for everyone to enjoy a workout together. Furthermore, workshops and sporting events, organized in cooperation with the Frankfurt Sports Association, regularly bring the DAM to life – join in and be there!

Opening: February 20, 2026, 7 p.m.
Speakers: Roland Frischkorn, Marcus Gwechenberger, Andrea Jürgens, Karen Jung
