Young architectural practices do not have an easy time of it but that does not reflect the quality of their work. And this is demonstrated by the results of max40, the BDA Architecture Prize for young architects. The winners not only demonstrate their ability and sense for the aesthetic but also a sense of responsibility and professionality with entries ranging from a school building designed to meet the passivhaus standard to the modernization of a 300-year-old mountain farm from its annex to its sensitive integration in a difficult context, from a bowling alley to an elementary school in Zimbabwe.

The BDA Architecture Prize for young architects max40 was awarded for the first time in 2020 by eight regional associations of the BDA. The competition was open to registered architects who are no older than 40 and whose projects are located in the states of Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, Hessen, the Rhineland-Palatinate, Saarland, Saxony-Anhalt, Saxony or Thuringia.
