The phrase “affordable living” is on everybody’s lips all over Europe – and Frankfurt can benefit from this. After an initial phase in which more than 100 architects in and outside Germany submitted more than 130 realized projects, in 2019 we are moving on to concrete designs. For four construction plots on the urban site known as “am Hilgenfeld,” the architects chosen in phase 1 developed ideas for the kind of construction that is affordable and at the same time contemporary in feel. And when ABG Frankfurt Holding implements the projects in this “Frankfurt model” as of 2020, it will be providing the impetus for a new urban district in the north of Frankfurt. The competition was organized by the City of Frankfurt’s municipal planning office in collaboration with DAM and ABG Frankfurt Holding. The Baukultur Foundation, the Association of German Cities, and the Chamber of Architects and Urban Planners in Hessen are partners. BPD Immobilienentwicklung GmbH supports the award.
