Tbilisi — Risingland

Tbilisi – Risingland presents the results of a project that explores critical representations of Tbilisi’s geological intimacy through the creation of three-dimensional, handcrafted models. The seminar took place in September 2025 as part of the educational program of the Tbilisi Cityscape Research Center Ubani and was led by Italian architect and theorist Renato Rizzi together with his assistants Susanna Pisciella, Giorgia Antonioli, and David Brodsky. Approximately 100 participants attended the seminar—including both local and international students and young professionals.

The exhibition features handmade works created during the seminar: an orthogonal model of Tbilisi with accentuated verticals that create an intensified perspective, a model of the Metekhi Cliff that explores the inner nature of the city’s elevation differences, silicone negatives, photographs, and two panels: One panel displays isometric representations of Tbilisi, while the other presents the individual full-page spreads from L’Ottava Vita (per Brilka), a book by Nino Haratischvili. This combination ties into the project’s central theme: a dialogue between architecture and literature, both of which emerge from the same historical and geological landscape.
