Aedes Architekturforum

In June 2006 Aedes moved to Pfefferberg, the grounds of a former brewery in Berlin Prenzlauer Berg.

The central location of the previous industrial site at Schönhauser Allee / Senefelderplatz reflects the vibrant atmosphere of the inner-city area between Kollwitzplatz, Kastanienallee and the quarters of Auguststraße and Hackescher Markt. Its cultural importance is indicated by such likes as the Galerie Ikeda, the Gruppe Meinblau, the Aedes Architecture Forum and other cultural institutions of high international acclaim which are at the planning stage. For years now, Pfefferberg has been a favourite spot in the Berlin scene for art, music and design events as well as performance, theater and off-culture.

Aedes am Pfefferberg offers 300 sqm of space for exhibitions of future-oriented architecture and urban development. With over 150 sqm, the big Hall is ideal for expansive installations.

The 140 sqm Studio serves as platform for current topics, as interface between university, research and the public, as platform and support for young talents, as ‘surface’ for the presentation of institutional and cooperation partners, and as an event space.

With his interdisciplinary installations, Eliasson explores the interface between art, urban space and architecture. His exhibition thus signified the programmatic start of Aedes am Pfefferberg.On the same occasion, students of the Yale School of Architecture and Columbia University presented in the Studio their work on the Palast der Republik in Berlin marking out the spectrum of the future program.

The following exhibitions Swiss Shapes, DeluganMeissl and Behnisch/Transsolar established that local and international visitors have gained with Aedes am Pfefferberg a new fixed point of reference in the cultural sphere of Berlin.
