LIGA, Space for Architecture, Mexico City is an independent pioneering platform for architectural exhibitions, conferences, and workshops based in Mexico City. Founded in January 2011, its aim is to promote the exchange of ideas and research around contemporary architectural practices.

There is a set program for its exhibitions, which take place every three months. Parallel to this, LIGA Interludes is a program where different agents from a multiplicity of disciplines are invited to deliver lectures, workshops and screenings that complement the exhibition program and address the role of architecture in its multiple aspects.

Although the platform is very young, LIGA has quickly become a well-known space to create community in between architects and those interested. LIGA has recently participated on the 3rd Architecture Triennial in Lisbon as an official institution and took part in the Program ‘The Institute Effect’. LIGA also went to Ljubljana to give a lecture at the conference ‘The Institutional Act’ next to institutions such as Storefront for Art and Architecture from New York. We are also proud to mention we received a Grant from the Graham Foundation for our 2012-2013 program and we were selected by the Architecture Foundation (AF) to make an exhibition in conjunction on April 2014 in London.

We are working on our first publication about the space which, besides including the first ten exhibitions, will be a referential book including unpublished texts about Latinamerican architectural practice and for which we were given the grant by FONCA (Fondo Nacional de la Cultura y las Artes).
