Karl Ilbing

An Architect in Graz and Haifa
Address
Sackstraße 16, Graz 8010
Hours
Tue-Sun 10 am-6 pm

Karl Ilbing (1886–1981) was a Russian-Austrian-Israeli architect and graduate of the Graz University of Technology. Growing anti-Semitism in this city forced him to emigrate in 1934. Research in Israel and Austria has now brought his life and work to light for the first time. The exhibition makes what has disappeared and long been repressed visible again and pays tribute to Ilbing's contribution to Graz's city history.

Under the direction of Antje Senarclens de Grancy and Waltraud P. Indrist, architecture students in the 2023/24 academic year at the Institute for Architectural Theory, Art and Cultural Studies at TU Graz have developed this exhibition.

Opening: 25 June 2024, 7 p.m.
