Rijk aan Ontwerpkracht
In the exhibition, the Atelier Rijksbouwmeester (chief government architect’s studio) presents a large collection of projects resulting from government policy and commissioning. In addition, the Minister of Infrastructure and the Environment, Melanie Schultz van Haegen, the Minister of Education, Culture and Science, Jet Bussemaker and Chief Government Architect Floris Alkemade talk about their favourite projects in filmed interviews.
Space for Architecture
The policy document ‘Ruimte voor Architectuur’ (Space for Architecture) was presented twenty-five years ago. The year 1991 thus signalled the launch of a national architecture policy that has put Dutch architecture on the international map. The publication at the end of 2016 of the ‘Actieagenda Ruimtelijk Ontwerp 2017-2020 – Samen werken aan ontwerpkracht’ (agenda for action spatial design 2017-2020 – working together on design strength) prompted Chief Government Architect Floris Alkemade to take a look at the results of twenty-five years of promoting architecture and spatial design in the Netherlands.
Amsterdam accent
This travelling exhibition will have an Amsterdam accent at the Amsterdam Architecture Centre, with a special focus on projects such as Aldo van Eyck’s Orphanage, the redevelopment of the Rijksmuseum and more recent projects such as De Ceuvel and the Europe Building by DUS Architects.
