Palace of Un/Learning
PALACE OF UN/LEARNING is a laboratory for imagining architecture otherwise; it is a space of discourse and action in order to collectively develop ideas for a multi-perspective, caring, and a fairer architecture.
The term UN/LEARNING describes the process of questioning and unlearning established spatial practices. It aims to achieve a shift towards an architecture of multiplicity, empathy, solidarity and circularity. The curators Bernadette Krejs and Max Utech therefore create a PALACE at the DAZ, a transformable exhibition landscape of spatial machines and objects of desire such as the Furry Bed, the Collective Skin Curtain, the Tentacular Being, and the Caregiver, which form a playful infrastructure for an alternative production of space.
The international collectives EXUTOIRE, PARITY FRONT, MATRI-ARCHI(TECTURE) and MOULD explore new perspectives and possibilities for action in the field of architecture by negotiating, unlearning and rethinking the notions of WE/CARE/POWER/WORK while working on site and in public events: Who is actually planning for whom? How do we overcome the restless exploitation of resources? What becomes visible and thus a part of the architectural canon? And which design and planning processes in architectural production do we accept?
