The Researchers
Through this exhibition, the Royal Danish Academy invites visitors into the world of research, offering a unique insight into the people behind it. What drives those who create new knowledge and are passionate about addressing the challenges of the future?
Visitors will meet researchers, including PhD fellows, associate professors, and professors, who work every day to generate new knowledge within design, architecture, and conservation. The exhibition explores what fascinates them, the questions that spark their curiosity, and how they seek to translate their knowledge into meaningful societal change.
The Researchers – Breaking New Ground in Design, Architecture and Conservation is an engaging exploration of how we can live, build, create, and care for our world in new ways. Through new perspectives on materials, spaces, and resources, the exhibition highlights how research can contribute to a more sustainable and inclusive future.
At the Royal Danish Academy, research in design, architecture, and conservation has grown significantly in recent years. The research community has expanded by 65% in less than a decade, and today 142 researchers are developing new knowledge that addresses major societal challenges through a combination of artistic and scientific methods.
The exhibition presents research from ten of the Academy’s research centres, clusters, and research projects. Visitors can experience tangible research outcomes and explore topics such as material reuse, textile production, the transformation of the built environment, legible typography, artificial intelligence, and the preservation of cultural heritage.
