Sichten 26
This year, the annual exhibition of the Department of Architecture at TU Darmstadt “Sichten” presents a selection of student works created last year under the motto “The Red Thread”. Since the first “Sighten” exhibition in 1997, the student-organized event has seen various venues, exhibition concepts, teams and sponsors.
“Sichten 26” will be presented from November 20th to 24th, 2023 in the 806sqm in Darmstadt city center. The theme of the exhibition is “The Red Thread,” which guides students through their studies. In this way, the development that occurs over the course of your studies can be experienced.
Works from the bachelor's degree and the master's degree program based on it are shown. Since the curriculum divides the study into these two sections as an official “red thread,” the exhibition is also divided into these two areas.
The exhibition begins with a collection of graphically prepared personal impressions of the students, which provide an insight into everyday student life and the often months-long work processes that precede the results presented at the end of the semester.
The necessary basics are taught in the bachelor's program. It offers little freedom when choosing courses. Accordingly, the exhibition in this section is arranged chronologically. Since the first two semesters work exclusively with pen and paper, the switch from analogue to digital drawing from the third semester onwards represents a noticeable turning point - both in the studies and in the exhibition.
In the master's program, the study plan only serves as a rough guideline as to which subject areas must be covered in order to complete the course. Each semester, a wide selection of tasks is offered in different formats, which are arranged in the exhibition according to the professors' areas of expertise. Not only master's drafts are shown, but also results from elective subjects.
