Money Power Space
The housing situation in Tyrol has changed significantly in recent years, presenting major challenges for those seeking housing: The steadily increasing demand for housing has significantly increased housing costs. Rental and owner-occupied apartments in Tyrol have become continuously more expensive, and affordable housing has become scarce, particularly in urban areas such as Innsbruck, Kitzbühel, and Kufstein.
The exhibition does not offer simple answers to these complex problems, but rather attempts to explain the legal and economic background, thereby raising awareness and stimulating debate. Using infographics, statistics, newspaper clippings, and videos, data, facts, and studies on the situation in Austria and Tyrol are presented. Furthermore, the exhibition raises the question of how the use of urban space is changing, where one can also observe a loss of public power in favor of private sector actors. In addition, a timeline designed by DOWAS provides insight into the past 50 years of its commitment, and artistic works by Anita Witek, Julius Schreiner, and Roland Maurmair complement the exhibition's themes in the form of a video, a photo series, and an installation.
In cooperation with the Association for the Promotion of Transition Places for Housing and Job Seekers (DOWAS), aut will draw attention to pressing social issues through an exhibition and symposium. At the same time, solutions will be presented for effectively combating homelessness and the associated problems with creative and sustainable strategies.
Opening: November 7, 2025, 8 p.m.
