In 1956/57, the Bauhausler Franz Ehrlich planned and designed the Institute for Cortico-Visceral Pathology and Therapy in Berlin-Buch in collaboration with the doctor and sleep researcher Rudolf Baumann. The architecture of the research hospital should support the healing process of the patients. The building has features of a monastery complex. Two inner courtyards are enclosed by the trapezoidal, single-storey building without right angles. The design of the corridors varies, avoiding the spatial effect of normal hospitals. With its glass walls and the clear orientation to the inner courtyards, the building is reminiscent of Chinese models.

The interlude presents this extraordinary building using plans, drawings, photos and other materials from the collection of the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation.
