EUROPAN17
EUROPAN is the world's largest ideas competition for innovative urban development and architecture with a subsequent realisation process. A Europe-wide theme and the competition sites provided by the location partners form the framework for an open process that has been carried out every two years since 1989 for young international architects and urban planners under the age of 40.
EUROPAN17 is once again entitled “Living Cities”. In the in-depth discussion, the current issue focuses on the aspect of the care ethic according to Joan Tronto. In addition to inequality and injustice, climate emergency, overexploitation and environmental pollution also require care measures to protect coexistence. The progressive thesis is that “care” could be the common anchor for synergistic balance and balanced interaction. It is precisely the responsibility of planners and decision-makers to develop integrative strategies for fair and caring coexistence.
EUROPAN Austria looked after four locations in the current cycle - one in Slovenia and three in Austria - including a competition site in Lochau, Vorarlberg. The presentation in vai shows the nominations and award winners from all four locations.
