Tomorrow?

Address
Viale Franscini 9, Lugano 6900 Map

The crisis in a society is what creates opportunities for change, for the reappropriation of the future, and it is urgent that the new generations of architects begin to imagine what this future could be like.

From one day to the next, a virus has emptied our public spaces and forced us into a forced retreat in our homes. This event offered us the opportunity to reflect on the consequences of the health crisis and the effects it could have on the world around us, on our cities, our collective and private spaces. Will the world of tomorrow be different? If so, how? Could it be better than ours?

This is the thought behind the "tomorrow?" and the questions posed to the participants, who were asked to respond briefly and concisely with a vision, an idea, a statement.
The Ticino section of the FAS (Federation of Swiss Architects), with the support of the FAS Switzerland, in 2020 launched a competition for architecture students and young architects that had the world of tomorrow as its theme. The exhibition set up in the Limonaia of Villa Saroli presents the results of this competition, which did not aim to collect detailed studies, but innovative and thoughtful ideas and approaches.
