Haus-Rucker-Co
With their works at the interface of art and architecture, the Haus-Rucker-Co group (1967 - 1992) is one of the most important positions in the Austrian post-war avant-garde. Their groundbreaking work transcended the boundaries of traditional genres and called for a link between art and life. The themes addressed by Haus-Rucker-Co, such as the increasing destruction of the environment, illustrate the continuing relevance of her work to this day.
On the basis of six chapters, the exhibition provides a comprehensive insight into the work of the members, including the architects Laurids Ortner, Günter Zamp Kelp, the painter Klaus Pinter, and from 1971 Manfred Ortner. The title Atemzonen (Breathing Zones) refers to the central importance of the element air in the work of Haus-Rucker-Co and builds a bridge in terms of content to important groups of works, such as those in the exhibition COVER. Survival in a Polluted Environment (1971).
With the purchase of the Günter Zamp Kelp archive by the city of Linz, the Lentos Kunstmuseum 2020 took over important works by Haus-Rucker-Co. The exhibition presents significant parts of this collection for the first time.
