How have ideas in the field of architecture evolved over the past two centuries? How have architects’ working methods and forms of expression – their manifestos, models, drawings, animations – shaped and changed our architectural culture and history?

The National Museum’s architecture collection encompasses several hundred-thousand drawings and artefacts from the period 1830–2014. With material by significant architects such as Christian Heinrich Grosch, Henrik Bull, Harald Hals, Magnus Poulsson, Arne Korsmo, Erling Viksjø, Sverre Fehn and Snøhetta, the exhibition explores the relationship between the architects’ visions and the buildings that were ultimately constructed.
