A new generation of designers from the Transformation Design department at the Willem de Kooning Academy invites you to reframe the current paradigm. With care and empathy, the young professionals become artistic intermediators helping you to reflect on your way of thinking. Their projects embrace the essential issues of our ever-changing times and show their personal urgencies and fascinations. Are you open to join them in starting a collective behavioural change?

Transformation Design is a Bachelor of Arts programme at the Willem de Kooning Academie in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, led by Hill Scholte.

"We are heading into a further period of transformations that will deeply impact our lives on a personal, social and economic level. This asks for a new generation of designers. Transformation designers critically investigate these transformations and make them accessible to a wider audience. By means of interdisciplinary outcomes, the makers aim to make a positive contribution to a society that is constantly changing. They design projects that shift attitudes, behaviours, or systems as a whole, to ensure the world remains a great place to live and work side by side.

Within the broader themes of mobility, technology and politics, the creatives use design to activate by interaction. Skills such as observation, future thinking, contextualising and visual storytelling are needed next to the knowledge of in-depth research and new technologies to communicate complex processes with the public. Do you want to change the world together with them?"
